Start with the delivery strategy, not the software
P6 is powerful, but the quality of the plan still depends on the thinking behind it. Before building activities, clarify scope, WBS, milestones, interfaces, assumptions, calendars, and the reporting outputs the programme needs to support.
Protect logic quality
A programme should be easy to interrogate. Avoid excessive open ends, weak constraints, unclear relationships, and activity descriptions that do not explain real work. Logic should reflect how the work will actually be delivered.
Make the plan reporting-ready
Good planning supports good controls. Use coding, baselines, progress rules, and review cycles that allow the team to track performance, explain movement, and identify intervention points.
